Bang Bang Shoot

In an old milk plant turned photography studio in downtown Burlington, VT, Brendan, Juliana and I got together to shoot part of my spring and summer collection. The studio was bright, airy, and filled with antique ornate doors and remnants of machinery from the old Hood plant; a perfect setting for Where. In 3 hours we took 978 photos, thus it will be a few days of editing before I can post them here, but I do have a few "behind the scenes" views! Click on Brendan's name above to check out more of his stellar photography!!

When a Vest Becomes an Outfit

I found this wonderfully frumpy vintage skirt at Goodwill the other day- the shape was awful but the material was magnificent!  It's a dark gray wool with the tiniest amount of bright blue, pink, and tan peeking through the stripes of black and navy plaid.  I cut apart the whole skirt and had enough fabric to make a hooded vest with a matching mini skirt!

This outfit is for sale at Clothing Line in Burlington, VT.
I added an antique doily onto the back, and antique buttons on to a front.

My take on the modern school girl :)

How to Turn a Table Runner into Evening Wear

My friend Amelia (WORLD END GF) and I did a trade a little while back, I got 2 of the most incredible necklaces which she titled and are best described as "Enchantress of the Forest" and "Flower Child Bling".  This is her in a Where original.  I made this shirt entirely from an antique table runner....this lace was just too gorgeous to leave on a table.  Check out her post-apocalyptic badass girl bling: http://www.etsy.com/shop/WORLDENDGF

Spring Fever

Winter's fashionably late appearance has been nothing but inspiring for my spring collection.  Until last week, I was convinced that New England was skipping a season this year.
I fell in love with the material of this vintage men's rugby shirt, it looks so elegant converted into a dress!

I've been playing with embroidery, and trying to compliment the frilly doily collars.

Spring 2012 Preview

For a portion of Where's Spring line, I plan on making many dresses out of vintage and second hand men's shirts, and continuing to experiment with the style of dress that emerges.

This one is enchantingly frilly...

The doily collar and lace trimmings are antique; the doily was collected and the lace inherited from a family member way down the line.

Believe it or not, this used to be a Tiger Woods for Nike Golf Championship shirt, ha!  Nice print Tiger, it's a splendid material, too.
